Volunteers Needed

If you would like to volunteer and haven’t previously, please send an email to barbaraswildliferescue@gmail.com with contact details and a little about yourself (no experience needed, full training provided).

Welcome

Covid 19 has had a huge affect on all our lives, we are a core service and have continued throughout with many of our volunteers having to leave to shield, with no idea when they can return or feel safe to find a new normal. We’ve managed so far but it’s not sustainable; we need consistent, reliable volunteers and more than ever we desperately need a site to secure the rescues future. (Details available on request).

We often get told how grateful people are that we are here providing this service and how they wouldn’t know what to do if we weren’t here and that is exactly why we do it and why we are asking for support. Everyone here loves our wildlife and wants to provide a safe haven to recover and be given a chance to live.

We need a minimum number of people covering hours from 9am to 9pm every day just to deal with the animals, (we are available 24hrs) my day consists mostly of the admin and general running (funding, rota’s, training, new admissions, rescues, emergency’s, treatments, veterinary visits, development plans etc, etc). If just one person can’t make their shift or doesn’t turn up I then cover; the above tasks getting rejigged or delayed. We can’t oversubscribe people as we run from a house and there just isn’t the space. The above tasks can’t keep being delayed as we desperately need a site to develop and progress to a purpose built centre to continue.

We are not doing this alone, Our amazing local vets are still working hard, both to help us and people’s pets, we work closely with the SSPCA’s wildlife department and have amazing support from one of the UK’s largest wildlife rescues.

If you have skills and are able to commit to the development side either as a board member or a consultant/development team member (with less formal meetings than a director) to help us progress the desperate need to secure a site or if you have any ideas that could help us continue please get in touch.

With ‘support’ in the title and provide as many details as you can including a phone number. We get so many private messages they get lost otherwise.

Many thanks
